❓ FAQs
Can I have more information about the Ghostlight-Specific Physician's Form and the required record from my camper's physical?
The Ghostlight-Specific Physician's form must be completed by your camper's doctor. This form is required by New York State for all families, both new and returning. This form grants permission for medication to be administered to your camper, both personal daily medication (prescription or over-the-counter) and as-needed over-the-counter medication stocked in our Health Center.
The record from your camper's physical is required to document that they had a physical exam in the past 12 months. You can upload a visit summary or progress note from an online portal (if you have access to one) or you can scan a printed document, including a school form, provided by your camper's doctor. If you have any questions about these requirements, please contact Alexa.
How does laundry at camp work?
Laundry at camp is done twice during each session at the end of the first and second weeks. For Emerging Artists, laundry will be done once, and there will be an additional load for full summer campers during intersession. Laundry is done off camp. Mesh laundry bags will be provided for all campers. Returners do not need to bring the orange bag they previously used.
My camper is new this summer. Can they connect with a returning camper prior to camp?
Yes! In the next few weeks, your camper will receive outreach from a returning camper who will be a great resource for any questions leading up to the summer. Returning campers will be able to share about their experiences at Ghostlight, favorite shows and classes, packing recommendations, and more!
What does communication look like during the summer?
Families will receive a daily email from a camp director with an update about the previous day at Ghostlight. Camp directors are also always available to email or for a phone call to check in about how your camper is doing. Campers can receive snail mail as well as printed emails that can be sent via the Family Dashboard. Campers can respond by mail (we recommend sending pre-addressed and stamped envelopes!), and they can also write a few letters each week to be scanned and emailed to family or friends.
What are auditions at Ghostlight like?
Auditions at Ghostlight are supportive and encouraging — we often hear from campers that these are the least stressful auditions they've experienced! Auditions take place on the first full day of each session (the day after arrival day), and campers spend time learning more about each of our shows. Campers will have the opportunity to read scenes, sing, and dance while traveling around camp in small groups. We finish the day with an exciting evening activity, and cast lists are posted the next morning (and sent to families). Our directors, music directors, and choreographers do an excellent job helping each camper get excited about their role and show.
