About Our Leadership

Ghostlight Theater Camp is led by a passionate team of theater artists and summer camp professionals, who draw on decades of experience and expertise. Together, they have made it their focus to bring the highest caliber theater training possible to campers at Ghostlight and help foster a fun, engaging summer camp experience that campers will carry with them for life.

Monica Flory started working at Ghostlight (then Acting Manitou) in 2004, and has been thrilled to be a part of the community ever since. She is a director, educator and playwright who lives in Philadelphia with her family when she’s not at camp. Monica holds a Master’s Degree in Educational Theater from NYU and a BA in Acting and Directing from Oberlin College. She directs in theaters and schools, and her plays have been produced around the world. Some of her happiest moments happen by a campfire or in a rehearsal room. She is grateful to share space and time with her Ghostlight family each summer.

Chris Murrah has over 25 years of experience in the camp world, with 15 years at Ghostlight Theater Camp. He has seen it from all perspectives as a camper, counselor, and now as co-owner and director of Ghostlight Theater Camp, a place he has called home since 2009. Chris received his Master’s Degree in Theatre Directing from Columbia University and continues to direct theatre and opera around the world. For five years he taught in Yale School of Music’s Graduate Opera program. He is so grateful that Maine is his summer home and loves sharing the beauty it offers with the staff and campers at Ghostlight each summer.

Zack Elkind has been at Ghostlight for 15 years, starting as a camper, then a counselor, and now as a director. Zack lives in New York, where he directs plays and musicals. From 2019 - 2024, Zack was the Associate Artistic Director of Bedlam, an off-Broadway theater company, where the New York Times called his work “playful” and “inventive.” He has directed at NYU, Yale, Symphony Space, Luna Stage, and more. He has also taught English at Friends Seminary, a K-12 school in New York.

Alexa Lyons has spent the past 12 summers at Ghostlight, moving from camper to counselor to head counselor. Alexa holds a B.A. in Education and Drama from Vassar College and an M.A. in Higher Education and Student Affairs from Boston College. During the year, she works in Student Life at Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, NY.

Spencer Lutvak is a veteran camper and long time staff member. He has been instrumental in working with our music campers as well as leading physical theater classes and working alongside our directors in making our show festival happen each year. As our business manager he brings experience from the finance world of non-profit theater from his years at The Public Theater in New York City. He holds a B.A. from Connecticut College.
