June 19 | Packing, Spending, and Pre-Camp Health
🩴 Packing Reminders:
We are a month away from welcoming All camper first names to Ghostlight and it's never too early to start thinking about packing for camp. Here are some helpful reminders:
- See the packing list for guidance.
- Don't forget to order your camper's Ghostlight laundry bag and Ghostlight items from Amerasport (or pack them if you have them from last summer!)
- We recommend bringing a crazy creek or camping chair. Also a hat, bug spray, and sunscreen are very important items.
- Decorate your Ghostlight Nalgene bottle with unique stickers and/or your name.
- Yoga mats, dance shoes, and sheet music are absolutely encouraged!
🧴 Spending Money at Camp
Campers do not need cash at camp. However, all campers do need a spending account that can be set up through the Spending Money form in your Family Dashboard (now open for completion).
We recommend an allotment of $25 for Emerging Artists, $75 for Half Summer (3-week), and $150 for Full Summer (6-Week) campers. The personal spending account will be used for:
- Items purchased at The Ghostlight General Store such as additional toiletries, postage stamps, batteries, Ghostlight stickers, water bottles, etc.
- Spending money for trip day (3- and 6-week campers only). Meals are provided on trip day, but campers will be given an opportunity to withdraw cash from their personal account for any souvenirs.
- Other incidentals, such as the cost to ship Lost & Found items home after camp.
We encourage you to have a discussion with your camper about your expectations regarding how they use this account. Our staff can only monitor the spending limit of the account.
❗️Head to your family dashboard to let us know how much spending money you would like to allot for your camper. Incomplete forms will automatically default to the suggested amounts above.❗️
💆🏼 Check twice for lice!
No one wants to get lice at camp, or even worse bring lice to camp. Please help us by checking your camper's head twice before they depart for camp - check now and again a day or two immediately prior to camp (seriously, put a note on your calendar or your to-do list!)
Please notify Lesley (lesley@ghostlighttheatercamp.com) if you have treated your camper for lice within the month prior to camp. This information will be kept confidential but allows Lesley (our resident nit-picking expert, yup!) to discreetly recheck your camper with an extra fine tooth comb and avoid an outbreak in their cabin or throughout camp.
Please note, you will be charged $150 if your camper has to be treated for nits or head lice upon their arrival at camp.
